  • Laura Maude Duncan, 83, of Lincoln (formerly Nehawka) died at Waterford Assisted Living in Lincoln April 9, 2013. She was born Feb. 23, 1930 at Auburn to Eugene Ross and Twila Maude (Hallowell) Argabright. She married Graydon John Duncan on Dec. 10, 1950 at Auburn.

  • Laura Maude Duncan, 83, of Lincoln (formerly Nehawka) died at Waterford Assisted Living in Lincoln April 9, 2013. She was born Feb. 23, 1930 at Auburn to Eugene Ross and Twila Maude (Hallowell) Argabright. She married Graydon John Duncan on Dec. 10, 1950 at Auburn.
    She is survived by daughters Suzanne Bennett of Nebraska City and Mary Meredith of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Travis Bennett, Tara Dush and husband Jeff, Nolan Bennett, Thomas Meredith, Cody Meredith and Jacqueline Walker and husband JW; 13 great grandchildren, Enzo Dush, Linkin Dush, Cyndralynn Meredith, Danicaella Meredith, Pierce Meredith, Brad Kalkwalf, Graydon Meredith-Walker, Josephine Walker, Wesley Walker, Colby Walker, Riley Walker, Lexie Walker and Emma Walker; brother Lloyd Argabright and wife Nancy of Del Rio, Texas; sister Ruby Burr of Auburn; sisters-in-law Bobbi Argabright of Sabetha, Kan., and Delores Argabright of Gladstone, Mo.; many other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded by her husband on April 4, 1968; son-in-law Dean Bennett; brothers Ernest Argabright, Clyde and Eugene Argabright; and sisters Dorothy Kammerer and Irene Trenerry.
    She lived in Nehawka and Nebraska City before moving to Lincoln in 2007.
    Laura taught school at Sidney, Iowa, a rural Nebraska City school, Nehawka and Conestoga. She retired from teaching after over 44 years.
    She was a member of Nehawka United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and was in Sweet Adelines for more than 20 years. She enjoyed art, traveling, quilting, embroidery, gardening and flowers.
    Memorial services are at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with Rev. Scott Shreve of the Nehawka United Methodist Church officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. No visitation is planned.
