  • Geraldine Mae McAlexander, 84, died April 6, 2013. She was born to Jess and Mae (Mason) Kyriss at Gordon, Neb., on March 11, 1929. She moved from Gordon to Auburn as a child and graduated from Auburn High School in 1947.

  • Geraldine Mae McAlexander, 84, died April 6, 2013. She was born to Jess and Mae (Mason) Kyriss at Gordon, Neb., on March 11, 1929. She moved from Gordon to Auburn as a child and graduated from Auburn High School in 1947.
    While living in Auburn, Gerri worked at the Hested’s Dime Store and the Green Lantern Restaurant. She married Harvey McAlexander on Feb. 7, 1948 at Plattsmouth. They moved to Tecumseh in 1954 where they raised their family.
    As an adult, Gerri was involved in Tecumseh Music Club, VFW Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School classes, was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and was a leader for Brownies, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Organization. She was actively involved in musicals and plays in Tecumseh.
    Gerri learned to play the piano is her 50’s. She was an avid reader, loved all kinds of music and enjoyed spending time outdoors.
    Gerri joined the Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh in 1957. When her health declined, she became a resident of Duff’s Friendship Villa in Nebraska City.
    She was preceded by husband Harvey Nov. 28, 2007.
    She is survived by daughters Patricia Nohovec-Fink and husband Jim of Castle Rock, Colo., Kathy Schultz and husband John of Omaha and Darla Peterson and husband Doug of Arvada, Colo.; sons Doug McAlexander and wife Paulette of Wilton, N.H. and Greg McAlexander and wife Sharon of Nebraska City; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister Sally Schoenfeld and husband Russel of Mathis, Texas.
    Funeral services will be held at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh at 2 p.m.
    Wednesday, April 10. Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery.
