  • The Peru State softball team ended March on a hot streak with four straight wins against Culver-Stockton and Avilla University.
    After taking two decisions at home against Culver-Stockton, 13-4 in five innings and 11-9, the Bobcats went on the road to Kansas City and scored 9-0 and 7-5 decisions against Avilla.
    The wins raised Peru State’s record to 6-14 overall and 4-0 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
    In other news, Peru State shortstop Kristen Bodyk was named the HAAC Softball Player of the Week on Monday morning. She was nearly unstoppable at the plate last week during the Bobcats’ four-game win streak.
    The senior from Paris, Ontario, Canada, hit .846 (11-for-13) with seven extra-base hits (three doubles, three home runs, one triple) while tallying 18 RBI and seven runs scored. She upped her career home run total to 11, putting her eighth on the Bobcats' all-time list.
    Peru State will return to action at 4 and 6 p.m. today at Fayette, Mo., against Central Methodist University. Check out the schedule below for more upcoming action.
