  • The Nebraska Department of Labor announced today that Nebraska's preliminary unemployment rate for February is 3.8%, seasonally adjusted. The jobless rate is the same as the January rate and down 0.2% from the February 2012 rate.
     Non-farm employment climbed by 2,972 jobs since January 2013 and by 7,450 jobs compared to February 2012. The top three private sector industries showing the largest gains over the previous month are Professional and Business Services, Education and Health Services and Manufacturing. "Manufacturing has been one of the bright spots in Nebraska's recovery from the recession," saidCommissioner of Labor Catherine D. Lang. "This sector has added 5,000 jobs since its low point of January and February of 2010, and Nebraska's percentage increase in manufacturing jobs has outpaced the nation for the last six months." The seasonally-adjusted national unemployment rate in February was 7.7%, a decrease of 0.2% from January. The February 2012 nation al unemployment rate was 8.3%. March 2013 data will be published Friday, April 19.
