  • Beginning farmers and ranchers looking to expand their horizons will have the opportunity to do so this April with a series of six workshops for beginning farmers and ranchers scheduled across Nebraska.
The Center for Rural Affairs along with the UNL Extension are sponsoring the workshops, three of which will focus on the concepts of mob grazing and the marketing of grass-fed beef, with the other three focusing on vegetable and fruit production. These events will feature experienced farmers talking about their practices and markets, followed by hands-on training on the finances of a start-up operation.
"These workshops will help new farmers and ranchers to learn details of high value production and marketing for grazing or produce operations," said Wyatt Fraas with the Center for Rural Affairs. "And the financial planning sessions will provide the basis for the business plans often requested by lenders."

The free workshops include refreshments, a complimentary lunch and some resource materials.
