Vertle Kuhns, 95, of Hamburg, formerly of Riverton and Sidney, died March 22, 2013 at the Ambassador in Sidney. He was born on Dec. 7, 1917 in Fremont County to Benjamin Franklin and Verna (Monroe) Kuhns. He attended country school.
Vertle worked on the farm and also worked for Vernon Monroe with the everday tasks of farming. He had an avid love of horses. He also volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center in Hamburg.
He is survived by brother Ralph Kuhns of Denver, Colo.; nephew Larry Kuhns and wife Marianne of Denver; numerous great nieces and nephews; and his dear friends and caregivers Gail and Donna Woods of Hamburg.
He was preceded by brother Leroy Kuhns, his father Benjamin in 1971, his mother Verna in 1986, and nephew Ronnie Kuhns.
Funeral services are Wednesday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Hamburg with Pastors Gail and Donna Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Hamburg Rescue in his memory.
Visitation is open at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church an hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
