NET and the Nebraska Office of the Chief Information Officer have launched a new mobile app, Nebraska Capitol Live, as a free download for those wanting instant access to activities from the Unicameral plus 10 other state government venues.
Individuals with Apple and Android devices connected to the Internet can now access government on the go. This new mobile app is a free download found in the Apple App Store, iTunes or Android market.
“With the expanding use of mobile technology, we felt it important to keep pace and provide Nebraskans additional free access to their state government,” according to Rod Bates, NET General Manager.
This new app results from a long-standing collaboration between the Governor’s office, the Nebraska Legislature, the Nebraska Supreme Court, the Nebraska Appellate Court, the Office of the CIO and NET to provide citizen access to government activities.
NET Television continues to provide gavel-to-gavel coverage from the Legislature via live broadcasts on NET2 World and its website at netNebraska.org. In addition, NET streams proceedings from many government venues including the legislative hearing rooms, Nebraska Supreme Court, the Nebraska Court of Appeals, the Governor’s Hearing Room and the Nebraska Department of Education. These streams from the NET website can be accessed now by both Apple and Android mobile devices as well as by computers with Internet access.
NET operates the statewide public broadcast network that includes NET Television, NET Radio, NET Learning Services and NET Technology Services. To learn more, visit netNebraska.org.
