Edna P. DeLay, 82, of Lincoln, formerly of Falls City and Nebraska City, died March 10, 2013 at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln. Edna was born on May 9, 1930 in Nebraska City to Melvin Theodore and Della Belle (Fivecoats) Hershey. She married Victor A. DeLay, Sr. on July 18, 1945 and they shared over 64 years of marriage together until Victor’s death.
Edna was a devoted wife and mother. She was a housewife and homemaker and enjoyed needlework, crocheting, and sewing. She also did babysitting and laundry and ironing services for many years.
She is survived by sons Dan Delay of Omaha, Roger DeLay of Lincoln, and Robert DeLay and wife Susan of Lincoln; daughters Shirley Farmer and husband Doug of Lincoln, Sandy Adams and husband Jay of Pensacola, Fla., Linda Stoner of Omaha and Christine Williams and husband Randy of Ponca City, Okla.; daughter-in-law Sandy DeLay of Cookeville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; other family and many friends.
She was preceded by her husband, Victor on Sept. 24, 2009; son Victor DeLay, Jr. in January of 2013; brothers Ed Hershey, Bob Hershey and Melvin Hershey; and half-sister Stella Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Rev. Rob Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
Visitation is today, March 13, at the mortuary from 2-8 p.m.
