  • Lowell N. Biner, 79, of Norfolk, formerly of Cook, died at the Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Norfolk on Thursday, March 7, 2013. He was born to Dewitt and Lena (Wendell) Biner on Sept. 23, 1933 at Cook.

  • Lowell N. Biner, 79, of Norfolk, formerly of Cook, died at the Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Norfolk on Thursday, March 7, 2013. He was born to Dewitt and Lena (Wendell) Biner on Sept. 23, 1933 at Cook.  
        He grew up in Cook and graduated from Cook High School. Lowell served his country in the Army during the Korean War.  He and his brother Dennis operated the Pool Hall/Broken Spoke Lounge in Cook for many years.  He was a member of the Cook Volunteer Fire Department.  He enjoyed hunting coyotes with his friends and mining for gold.  
        He lived in Cook his entire life until his health failed and Lowell moved to the Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Norfolk where he had resided the past 20 years.
     
        Lowell is survived locally by nephew Steve Eden and wife Kathy of Nebraska City as well as other nieces and nephews.  He was preceded by brothers Dennis and Willard Biner and sisters Vivian Eckert and Betty Eden.
       Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Cook Cemetery, Cook, with Rev. Curtis Rieger officiating.  Full military rites will be conducted by the Bickel-Nelson American Legion Post #360 of Cook. 
     
        Memorials may go to the Cook Cemetery Association. Inurnment will be in the Cook Cemetery, Cook.
