A 22-point second quarter explosion coupled with a three-point defensive effort in that same frame put the Lourdes boys’ basketball team in control on the way to a 65-48 win over Weeping Water at the Class C2-1 sub-district tourney at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca on Tuesday.
Four players made it to double figures for the Knights. Aaron Miller hit for 19 points to lead the team. Other scorers were Mitch Gude, 13; Tom Gress, 12; Noah Vasa, 11; Jameson DeFreece, nine; and Bret Kochanowicz, one.
With the win, the Knights will advance to play in the sub-district final, which is now set for 7 p.m. on Friday at the S-D-A gym. The game was originally set for Thursday, but has been moved due to the impending snow storm expected to begin sometime late on Wednesday night.
Snow has been forecasted to continue through the day Thursday and could still affect a Friday night tip off. In the event of further weather complications, the sub-district final could be moved to Saturday.
District finals action is expected to be played on Monday
