  • John Clark Scott, 70, died Feb. 13, 2013 at his home He was born on May 2, 1942 in Hamburg to Stephen Winfield and Anita Agnes (Adams) Scott.
    He started school in Riverton and then transferred to Sidney, where he graduated in 1960. He  attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, Neb., graduating in 1964.
    He married Connie S. Keller on July 12, 1981 in Walnut.
    He was active in the Sidney and Hamburg communities. He was a crop adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance from 1974 to 1980; an administrative assistant at Nishna Productions for two years and the manager at Northwest Missouri Industries for 23 years.
    John was a member of the United Trinity Church in Hamburg since 1968, where he served as an elder, past church board president and building chairman. He was the youth coordinator for Fremont County Extension Service in addition to being a member and past president of the Extension Board. He was a member and past president on the Hamburg School Board; a past member and past president on the George C. Grape Hospital Foundation from 2001 to 2011; a current member and vice president of the Fremont County Economic Development Board and a current member of the Fremont County Historical Association.
    John was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, attending numerous season games as well as bowl games. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, fishing, spending time in his shop, golfing and genealogy.
    He was preceded in death by his father in 1995 and mother in 2009.
    He is survived by his wife, Connie S. Scott of rural Sidney; children Kristine Spears and husband Randy of Hamburg, Dianna Scott of Ft. Collins, Colo., Stephen Scott and wife Andrea of Lincoln, and Melissa Scott of Loveland, Colo.; 11 grandchildren: Meagan and Jeremiah Kimpston, Zachary Spears, Justin and Samantha Phillips, Ryan Bierwirth, Jordan Vasa, Nicholas Scott and Thomas Scott, and Penelope and Alex Thyne; sister Joyce Hopping of Hamburg; brothers and sisters-in-laws Juanita and Ken Kise of Ankeny, Patricia and Larry Follmann of Massena, Linda Schade of Hardy, Barbara and Bob Figgins of Brayton, and Arlie and Sue Keller of Sparta, Wis.; other family and friends.
    Memorial services were Feb. 19 at United Trinity Church in Hamburg with Rev. Dan Voigt and Rev. Roy Fox officiating.
    Rash Gude Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
