  • UPDATE: Girls Class B-1 District semifinal, originally set for Thursday, has been moved to Wednesday. Stay tuned for more updates as it relates to the Class C1-1 and C2-1 boys' sub-district tourneys.
    Tuesday will be a busy day in high school basketball as area teams compete in post season tournaments.
    The Nebraska City girls' basketball team will play at the Class B-1 District tournament against Waverly at Lincoln East High School Tuesday with the winner of that game advancing to face No. 2 seed Norris on WEDNESDAY. Tip times on Tuesday and WEDNESDAY are set for 7 p.m.
    The Lourdes boys' basketball team, seeded No. 3, will play at the Class C2-1 sub-district tourney against No. 2 Weeping Water at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca. Tuesday's winner will advance to play in the sub-district final at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
    The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca boys' basketball team, seeded No. 3, will play at the Class C1-1 sub-district tourney against No. 2 Louisville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Brock. Tuesday's winner will advance to play in the sub-district final at 7 p.m. Thursday.
    NOTE: A hazardous winter storm is predicted for the area with snow arriving in mid-to-late week. A significant accumulation is expected and the storm could impact games scheduled for Thursday night.
