Delbert H. Heather, 93, of Syracuse, died at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City Feb. 14, 2013. He was born May 9, 1919 in rural Syracuse to Harry and Mollie (Walker) Heather. He married Marie Halvorsen Feb. 8, 1941 in Lincoln.
He is survived by daughters Lucy and husband Stuart Kitt, St. Louis, Mo., Jane Heather, Ft. Worth, Texas, Jody and husband Wally Pohlman, Nebraska City, and Sandy Heather and husband R.K. Piper, Omaha; son Wayne and wife Pat Heather, Waverly; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded by wife Marie, infant children James and Wesley, son Keith Heather, and sisters Edna Parker and Thelma Barnes.
He was a farmer by trade, cowboy at heart. He was an avid horseman.
Funeral services are Monday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church –Syracuse. Burial was at Park Hill Cemetery, Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the Otoe County 4-H Foundation (horse program).
Visitation is today, Sunday, Feb. 17, until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
