Man dies after being pinned under car in Bartlett, Iowa

Earl Lee Schmitt, 57, of Omaha, died at the scene in Bartlett after a vehicle on which he and another man were working shifted off the jack stands and landed on him.

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received the call Feb. 16 at approximately 2:16 p.m. of the man pinned at 2049 111th St. The incident occurred near a maintenance shop Schmitt owned on the property.

Thurman Fire and Rescue, Tabor Fire and Rescue and the Fremont County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
