A California man is in jail on an outstanding warrant and drug charges after a trooper makes a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Lancaster County.
Just before 2:30 a.m., Friday, February 15, a trooper stopped an eastbound 2000 Ford pickup for traveling too close on Interstate 80 near the Lincoln Airport Exit. A check of the driver’s license information revealed the driver was wanted on an active warrant for drug possession out of Sonoma County, California. The driver was placed under arrest. A subsequent inventory of the vehicle led to the seizure of 40 packages of marijuana weighing 88.1 lbs. The marijuana was located in two tool boxes in the bed of the pickup. An unmarked bottle containing hydrocodone tablets was also seized from the cab of the pickup.
The driver and lone occupant of the pickup, Shane Barrett, 41, Willits, Calif., was lodged in the Lancaster County Corrections on the outstanding warrant and for possession of a controlled substance.
