Cathy L. Castner, 53, of Peru, died Feb. 11, 2013 at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 14, 1959 in Nebraska City to Richard L. and Anita I. (Bassinger) Williams. She married Arnold “Butch” Castner on June 3, 1975 in Rock Port, Mo.
She had worked as a CNA at various nursing homes and as a dietitian at St. Mary’s Community Hospital and at Peru State College.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nebraska City.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Butch Castner of Peru; children Travis Castner and wife Nicole of Lincoln and Amy Alsobrook and husband Jerry of Omaha; four grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Shawn and Brooke; brothers Merlyn Williams and wife Mary and Phillip “David” Williams and wife Mary, all of Nebraska City; other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-brother Rick Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nebraska City with Bishop Troy Bennett presiding. Burial will follow at Camp Creek Cemetery in rural Nebraska City.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
Memorials may be given to Hearts United for Animals, Auburn, NE in lieu of flowers.
