  • Dwight Logan Wenzel, 85, of Paul died Feb. 10, 2013, at the Heart Institute in Lincoln. He was born on Sept. 15, 1927, in Nebraska City to Logan T. and Nora M. (Moyer) Wenzel.

  • Dwight Logan Wenzel, 85, of Paul died Feb. 10, 2013, at the Heart Institute in Lincoln. He was born on Sept. 15, 1927, in Nebraska City to Logan T. and Nora M. (Moyer) Wenzel.
    Dwight farmed on the family farm near Paul. On April 1951, Dwight enlisted into the Army and served until his Honorable Discharge on Jan. 30, 1953. He returned home to continued to farm. He married Illa H.(Cachelin) McNew Aug. 22, 1989 at Lake Tahoe, Calif.
    Dwight was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #9, and a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #968, all in Nebraska City.
    He was preceded by his wife on July 22, 2009.
    He is survived by sons Garry and Judy McNew of Papillion, Ronald and Patsy McNew of Fort Worth, Texas, and Charles McNew of Murdock; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother Elmer and Mary Jo Wenzel of Lincoln; sister Eva Yearsley of Lincoln; niece; nephews; cousins and other relatives and friends.
    Viewing will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 1-8 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 14, 9 a.m. until service time at Peterson Mortuary.
    Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Peterson Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City with the Rev. Roger Good of the Bethel United Church of Christ of Nebraska City officiating. Burial will follow at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
    Memorials are suggested to the Bethel United Church of Christ.
