  • In July of 2009, Parks Commissioner Jeff Crunk said JEO Consulting would begin a study to see if rehabilitation of the swimming pool at Steinhart Park was feasible.
Engineers were expected to advise the city about the cost of maintaining the current pool and develop alternatives that include rehabilitation.
Crunk said there is historical interest in Steinhart Park and interest in preserving the bathhouse and rehabilitating the pool.
The Olympic-sized swimming pool has 330,000 gallons of water filtered through a heater three times a day.
JEO will develop an opinion about the life expectancy of the pool and the cost to renovate or replace. The company will inspect the current water circulation system for the main and baby pools, as well as the pool heating system.
JEO is also expected to develop preliminary concepts for a new pool at the existing location and at a new location.
