  • Cecil Landon Neil, 90, of Nebraska City died at Golden Living Center – Nebraska City on Jan. 29, 2013. He was born Dec. 13, 1922 at Aldrich, Mo., to Ben and Myrtle (Potts) Neil. He married Florence Finfrock on March 16, 1944 at Nebraska City.

  • Cecil Landon Neil, 90, of Nebraska City died at Golden Living Center – Nebraska City on Jan. 29, 2013. He was born Dec. 13, 1922 at Aldrich, Mo., to Ben and Myrtle (Potts) Neil. He married Florence Finfrock on March 16, 1944 at Nebraska City.
    He is survived by son David Neil and wife Linda of Lincoln; daughters Carol Barton and husband Robert of Nebraska City and Marcia Sadlowsky and husband Elmer of Brainard, Minn.; grandchildren Russell, Rod and Justin Neil, Crissa and Trent Barton, Jake and Nancy Sadlowsky; nine great grandchildren; sisters Helen Wolfe of Union,  Betty Barrett and husband Clyde of Tyler, Texas, and Kay Cordes and husband Jim of Conway, Ark.; brother Gene Neil and wife Barbara of Brookfield, Mo.; many nieces, nephews and friends.
    He was preceded by his wife on Aug. 3, 2008; son Jim; sisters Fern and Ruth; and brothers John and Jerry.
    He formerly lived in Union. Cecil was one of nine children.  He graduated from Union High School and worked at Morton House Kitchens for a number of years.  He later became a traveling tool salesman for several years.  He also did farming for a local dentist.  Cecil enjoyed cutting firewood with his brother-in-law, Don Wolfe.  He played golf and horseshoes and went to corn husking competitions and tractor pulls.  Cecil played the harmonica at home in the evenings.  He enjoyed going for coffee with his good friends, where he was a favorite customer at those restaurants.  He had a garden where his grandchildren helped him with the harvests.
    Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2,  at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with burial at East Union Cemetery – Union.
    Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
    Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family greeting friends from 6:30-8 p.m.
