  • Nebraska City sports action will heat up Friday and Saturday with home basketball games slated for Friday night and the Eastern Midlands Conference wrestling tournament scheduled for Saturday.
    Both Nebraska City basketball teams will be in action tonight with the girls' team at home against Crete and the boys' team on the road at Beatrice. Norris visits the Nebraska City gym for a girls' and boys' doubleheader on Friday. The Pioneer boys' team is currently 3-10 on the season, while the girls' team has a record of 1-13.
    Wrestling action begins Saturday morning at Gretna. The site had been noted on Nebraska City schedules as being Elkhorn South, but has since been confirmed for Gretna.
    The Pioneer wrestlers, winners of five tournaments this year, will be looking to break a long conference tourney drought on Saturday after having dominated in the conference dual tournament earlier in January.
