  • Roger Teten, 69, of Talmage was fatally wounded Tuesday when he was struck by a semi-trailer near the Co-op grain elevator where he worked.
Teten was standing on Third Street directing another truck to line up with a grain hopper, when a second 2005 Peterbilt driven by Dale P. Horstmann, 72, of Nebraska City backed into him.
Talmage Rescue transported the man to a meeting point with a paramedic ambulance from Nebraska City. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators from the Otoe County Sheriff's Office say the driver of the truck had pulled up the hill on Third Street. The driver stopped and intended to back down the hill to a grain loading area.
Otoe  County Chief Deputy Mike Holland said the driver of another truck used a CB radio to alert him to stop, but it was too late to prevent the accident.
The driver pulled the trailer back up the road slightly to free the injured man.
