The Peru State men's and women's basketball teams will both be on the road this week.
After playing an exhibition game on Monday night at Utah Valley University, the Peru State men are scheduled to join the women's team for a doubleheader at Culver-Stockton on Saturday, Feb. 2.
Both teams will play in a 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. home doubleheader against Baker University on Feb. 7. The women's game tips first, followed by the men's game.
Currently, the women's team has a record of 11-12 overall and 6-5 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. The Bobcat women are coming off a 69-63 overtime win over Central Methodist. In other recent action, the Peru women lost to Mid America Nazarene 84-73. Courtney Ward is the current scoring leader for the Bobcats. She is averaging 15 points per game. Ward is also the team's leader in blocks and rebounds while Jasmine Tate is the team's leader in steals and assists.
The men's team has a record of 9-13 overall and 2-9 in HAAC play. The team is coming off losses to Mid America Nazarene, 78-66, and Central Methodist, 73-62. Kody Kirkpatrick is the team's scoring leader at 13 points per game. Richard Opitz leads the Bobcats in blocks and rebounds. Nate Bohy is the team leader in assists and Derrick Williams leads the squad in steals.
