Hildegard Center for the Arts is sponsoring a short-film competition for students in grades six to 12 as part of its Heroes Among Us campaign.
Students in the Lincoln and surrounding areas are challenged to create a film eight minutes or less using the theme of "unsung heroes.
Winners will be honored at the Marcus Lincoln Grand Cinema on April 16. The deadline for submissions is March 11.
Students will view winning films on the big screen and, like the Oscars, will receive a trophy. A reception is also planned April 28 at the Lincoln Southwest High School.
Hildegard is a "without walls" arts organization that partners with existing organizations to provide opportunities in the visual and performing arts.
