  • Runaway truck smashes in Syracuse restaurant

  • An employee at Breadeaux Pisa in Syracuse was injured Saturday when a pickup truck smashed into the building.

    Otoe County Sheriff's Office investigators say the driver of the pickup was suffering from a medical condition when the truck crossed the parking lot and struck the building.

    Rescue squad took one employee to the hospital and another was self-admitted.

  • A 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Bruce A. Meadows, 55, of Syracuse left Park Street around 8:13 p.m. on Jan. 19 and smashed into the Breadeaux Pisa building.
    The Otoe County Sheriff's Office reports says Meadows was suffering from a medical condition when the truck left the roadway and traveled through a gravel parking lot near 11th Street.
    The building suffered significant exterior and interior damage.
    At the time of the crash there were two employees in the restaurant. Syracuse Rescue transported one to Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital and the other was later self admitted. Both were treated and released for minor injuries.
    Meadows was taken by Syracuse Rescue to Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
