Marion I. Garrett, 91, of Nebraska City died at Golden Living Center in Nebraska City on Jan. 9. She was born on July 31, 1921 in Neb-raska City to Howard Coe and Florence Alvo (Brust) McCallum. She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1938.
Marion married Bertle George Garrett on Dec. 31, 1940 at Rock Port, Mo.
She worked at the former Pendleton Sewing Factory in Nebraska City and also at American Meter Company for 22 years before she retired.
She is survived by her five children: Sally Pierce and husband Ron of Nebraska City, Mary Blevins and husband Tom of Nebraska City, Jim Garrett and wife Sandra of Omaha, Nancy Eads and husband John of Nebraska City and David Garrett and wife Joyce of Murphy, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren; other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 14, 1990; daughter Susan Hoyle on Oct. 3, 1994; granddaughter Lisa Graham; and siblings Min Chandler, Helen Homeyer, Ruth Bryan, Phillip McCallum and Howard “Buck” McCallum.
Funeral services are Monday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City. Mike Fahey will officiate. Burial will be in the Wyuka Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jim and Aaron Garrett, Scott Eads, Mark and Todd Hoyle, Steve Pierce and Aaron Walters.
The family will greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at Gude Mortuary.
Memorials may be given to the Nebraska City Rescue Squad.
