  • Edgar H. Snyder, 87, of Unadilla died at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln Jan. 8, 2013. He was born on Aug. 8, 1925, at Brock to William and Ella (Niedermeyer) Snyder. He married Nora Applegate on Jan. 23, 1957 at Peru at the Christian Church.

  • Edgar H. Snyder, 87, of Unadilla died at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln Jan. 8, 2013. He was born on Aug. 8, 1925, at Brock to William and Ella (Niedermeyer) Snyder. He married Nora Applegate on Jan. 23, 1957 at Peru at the Christian Church.
    Edgar was a hard working man all of his life. He worked for Gartner Construction as a block layer for over 35 years. After he retired he went to work for MK Meats as a meat cutter for 19 years. He also served on the Unadilla Fire Department.
    Edgar served in the Army during Korea where he drove trucks for the Peace Talks. He belonged to the American Legion and VFW in Talmage for 60 years. He umpired many baseball and softball games and he loved watching football games. He also loved fishing and enjoyed helping kids get interested in outdoor sports.
    He is survived by wife Nora of Unadilla; children Wayne Snyder and wife Julie of Syracuse, Cheryl Snyder and Jack of Nebraska City, Theresa Snyder and Don of Paul, David Snyder and wife Tina of Nebraska City and Rhonda Snyder of Unadilla; brother Melvin Snyder and wife Betty of Talmage; sisters Loretta Smith of Auburn and Rosella Eaton of Nebraska City; grandchildren Danny Childers of Maryville, Kan., Jennifer Snyder of Syracuse, Matt Snyder of Lincoln, Trevor Snyder of Unadilla, Lacie Snyder of Syracuse, Kimberly Snyder of Syracuse, and McKenzie Snyder of Nebraska City; and many great-children, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
    He was preceded by brother Leland Snyder, grandchildren Gunner and Sierra Snyder, and nephews Joel and William Smith.
    Funeral services were Jan. 11 at the Zion United Church of Christ in Talmage with Rev. Carla Patterson officiating.
    Burial was at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) Cemetery.
    Memorials are suggested to Unadilla Fire and Rescue.
    Arrangements were by Fusselman Allen Harvey Funeral Home, Syracuse.
