Floy Edith Hohnroth, 100, of Nebraska City died Jan. 10, 2013 at The Ambassador in Nebraska City. She was born Dec. 18, 1912 in Washington County, Mo., to John Albert and Mamie (Phillips) Maynard.
She married Lester Henry Hohnroth Aug. 21, 1935 at McCook.
She is survived by son Allen Hohnroth and his wife, Renee, of Santa Clarita, Calif.; daughter-in-law Nancy Hohnroth of Central City; grandchild Carolyn Kucera (Russ) of Central City; great grandchildren Jennifer (Jerod) Kucera Davis, Stephanie (Ryan) Kucera Stromberger and Ryan (Sarah) Kucera; four great-great grandchildren, Preston Davis, Conner Stromberger, Taya Stromberger and Kayden Tyan; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded by husband Lester Feb. 19, 2001; son Roger; sisters Eula Maynard, Aleta Fokerts, Ethel Berge, Elva Schreiner and Lea Pearson; and brother Bill Maynard.
Floy has lived in the Nebraska City area since 1921. She was a homemaker and taught school in her early years. Floy has been an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City since 1926. She taught Sunday school and received her 75-year pin in 2001. She was also a member of the Belmont Club, We Wanago Campers and Just For Fun Campers. Floy enjoyed helping to develop Centennial Lake with husband Lester on their property southwest of Nebraska City. Floy enjoyed camping, fishing, embroidery, flowers and family gatherings.
She was a 1931 graduate of Nebraska City High School.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City with Rev. Sara Malone officiating.
Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery – Nebraska City.
In lieu of memorials, the family requests that donations be sent in Floy's name to the Nebraska City Food Pantry, Nebraska Special Olympics, and Roger W Hohnroth Family Memorial c/o The Merrick Foundation, 1530 17th Ave., Central City, NE 68826.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Tuesday with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
