  • Richard L. “Dick” Nielsen, 74, of Weeping Water died Jan. 3, 2013 in Lincoln. He was born in Lincoln on April 16, 1938 to the late Anton and Alba (Lund) Nielsen. He graduated from Avoca High School and served in the U.S. Army.

  • Richard L. “Dick” Nielsen, 74, of Weeping Water died Jan. 3, 2013 in Lincoln. He was born in Lincoln on April 16, 1938 to the late Anton and Alba (Lund) Nielsen. He graduated from Avoca High School and  served in the U.S. Army.
        He was a life-long Cass County  farmer. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church  and  American Legion Post #237.
        Richard is survived by wife Melva  (Mussmann) Nielsen; daughter Sandra Nielsen of Weeping Water; sons Doug (Christy) Nielsen of Firth, Wayne (Shelly) Nielsen of Centerville Iowa, and Scott  (Brandi) Nielsen of Eagle; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Johnson, Dustin Nielsen, Anna Doeschot, Austin Nielsen, Samantha Nielsen, Deven Nielsen and Danae Nielsen; nieces, nephews, many cousins, friend and nieghbors.
        He was preceded by sister Elinor Ackley.
        Funeral services were held Jan. 8 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Weeping Water, with Rev. John Cotton officiating. Renee Thakur was organist.
        Pallbeares were sons Doug, Wayne and Scott, and grandsons Jonathan, Dustin and Austin. Honorary pallbearers were granddaugthers Anna, Samantha, Deven and Denae.
        Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Weeping Water with
    military honors by Nebraska Army National Guard and American Legion Post #237.
        Memorial contributions  are suggested to the family for later designation.
        Hammons Family Funeral Services in Weeping Water was in charge of arrangements.
