  • Wilma Kavanagh, 93, of Nebraska City died Jan. 2, 2013. She was born July 24, 1919 to Nels and Ida Flau. She married Charles Callison Kavanagh Aug. 10, 1940 in Auburn.

  • Wilma Kavanagh, 93, of Nebraska City died Jan. 2, 2013. She was born July 24, 1919 to Nels and Ida Flau. She married Charles Callison Kavanagh Aug. 10, 1940 in Auburn.
    She is survived by daughters Shirley Brown of Riverside, Calif., and Jean Holliday of Bellevue; grandson Brian Charles Brown; sisters Clarice Patton of Yreka, Calif., and Virginia Drennan of Lincolnton, Georgia; brother Donald Flau of Bethany, Mo.; also cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
    Charles preceded Wilma in death Nov. 21, 1994. Wilma was also preceded by brother Val (Bud) Flau of Spring Valley, Calif., and sister Dorothy (June) Tubman of Lincoln.
    Wilma attended school in Peru. She later lived in Graf and Tecumseh before moving to Nebraska City in 1947.
    She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Chamber of Commerce, Eagles Auxillary and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary.
    Wilma was a social person. She would meet the girls for coffee most mornings on Central Avenue.
    Charles and Wilma were very fond of cats. Hobo and Tina were two special Siamese cats they had.
    A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Fr. Steven Thomlison officiating. Inurnment at St. Benedict’s Cemetery will be at a later date.
    Gude Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
