A 41-year-old Beatrice man sustained only minor abrasions and cuts after jumping from a car traveling 60 miles per hour on Highway 2 west of Nebraska City on Jan. 4.
Otoe County officials received a 911 call from the driver who was trying to drive the man to a mental health evaluation in Lincoln.
She had been driving west on the highway when the man opened the door and rolled out.
"He was lucky to be able to walk away. Actually, he got up and ran about a half mile into a field where we found him," said Chief Deputy Mike Holland.
Rescue units were called, but the man's most serious injury was a cut on his arm.
