The Nemaha Natural Resource District is encouraging landowners to make planting trees a new year’s resolution.
The NRD is taking orders for its conservation tree program, which includes seedlings for a variety of trees and shrubs delivered for spring planting.
The deadline to order and have the NRD plant a minimum of 200 trees has been extended to Jan. 31.
Ground must have been fall tilled to be eligible for the NRD’s planting services next spring.
People planting trees themselves have until March 1 to order.
To ensure availability of species early orders are encouraged.
The NRD offers eight conifer varieties, 10 deciduous species and 10 types of shrubs at a cost of .90 per seedling.
Advance payment for trees and/or planting is required before your seedlings will be reserved. Orders will be available for pickup in April, 2013.
