Kenneth P. Geyer, 83, of Newman Grove, Neb., died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. He was born to Paul F. and Rosetta A. (Christiansen) Geyer on June 18, 1929, at Newman Grove.
He grew up in rural Newman Grove, where he attended Bell Rural School (District #29) near the family home. From 1951 to 1953, Kenneth served his country in the Army during the Korean War. On Oct. 4, 1953, he married Elaine Koenig at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. The couple farmed north of Newman Grove.
Kenneth was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Buffalo Creek, where he held several offices during his lifetime. He was also a member of the Norfolk Antique Auto Club, and enjoyed restoring Chevy cars and antique tractors.
Kenneth is survived by his wife: Elaine Geyer of Newman Grove; daughter Susan (husband Rodger) Good of Nebraska City; son James (wife Kristi) Geyer of Newman Grove; three grandsons, Benjamin Good, Bryan Good, and Nathan Geyer; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (wife Genevieve) Geyer of Norfolk; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden. Pastor David Weaver will officiate, with burial in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery at Norfolk.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 1, from 4-7 p.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.
