  • James Edward Nash, 89, died Dec. 17, 2012 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center in Corydon, Iowa. The son of James W. and Beulah (Baxter) Nash, James was born Oct. 28, 1923 in Palmyra.

  • James Edward Nash, 89, died Dec. 17, 2012 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center in Corydon, Iowa. The son of James W. and Beulah (Baxter) Nash, James was born Oct. 28, 1923 in Palmyra.    
     
        Ed was baptized in 1939 at the Palmyra Baptist Church and later became an active member of the Clio United Methodist Church.
        He graduated from Palmyra High School in 1941.  He farmed with his parents and cared for them as they aged.
        He and his neighbor Merle Levis became good friends and enjoyed attending community events and traveling together.
        On Feb. 17, 1979 Ed and Ruth Moore were married. He continued to feed out cattle until his retirement.
        Ed and Ruth also enjoyed traveling and attending community events.
        Ed enjoyed being with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
        Survivors include his sister Rachael Davis, Jackson, Calif.; nephews Lynn Nash of Allerton, Iowa, Craig (Helen) Nash of Lacona, Iowa, and Nathan (Anita) Nash of Newton, Iowa; step-children Gene (Evelyn) Moore of Bloomington, Ill., and Marilyn Burley of Indianola, Iowa;  grandchildren Kristina (Matt) Valentine of Box Elder, S.D., and Karla (Nick) Sulser of Corydon;  great grandchildren R. B. Sloan, Morgan, Michael, Leighanne, and Mark Valentine, and Dominic and Brylee Sulser and several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
        He was preceded by wife Ruth of 31 years; brother Clair (Faith) Nash; sisters Beth (Harold) Scattergood and Dorothy (Bryce Jr.) Blynn; brother-in-law Ray Davis; son-in-law Dwaine Burley; and great grandchildren Riley and Taylor Sulser.
        Funeral service is at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Leroy Perkins officiating. Burial will be at Allerton Cemetery in Allerton, Iowa.
        Pallbearers are Barry Andrews, John Forbes, Nathan Nash, Bill DeBolt, Craig Nash and Lynn Nash.
        Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon is in charge of arrangements.
