Elvera Anna Riensche, 88, died Dec. 14, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse. She was born on Nov. 23, 1924 in Otoe County to Walter and Amanda (Landwehr) Vollertsen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Osage).
Elvera married Clarence Budt on July 15, 1945 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Osage). He preceded her in 1969. Elvera married Bernard Riensche on Aug. 16, 1973 and became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Cook. Bernard preceded her in 2002.
Elvera worked with the Dairy Farm & Farming and also at Brammeier’s Locker. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Legion Auxiliary, Friendly Farmeretts Extension Club, and served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, bowling, playing cards, and tying blankets for World Relief. She was proud of the handmade quilts she made for each of her grandchildren. Elvera always looked forward to the vacations taken with the entire family.
Elvera is survived by sons Gordon (Delta) Budt, Cook, and Wayne (Eldonna) Budt, Helena, Mont.; daughter Janet (Dave) Wacker, Malcolm; granddaughters Michelle (Sean) Miller, Houston, Texas, Rachel (Ryan) Trampe, Amherst, Stephanie Budt, Roeland Park, Kan., and Diana (Austin) Klein, Papillion; grandsons Paul Budt, Laredo, Texas, Jon (Dawn) Budt, Rapid City, S.D., and David (Sara) Budt, Bozeman, Mont.; great grandchildren Dalton, Breanna, Cooper, Acelyn, Braxton, Samuel and Thomas; sisters-in-law Iva Dell Vollertsen, Elva Mae Riensche and Arlene Sillman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded by brother Melvin Vollertsen and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Vernon and Ruth Riensche, Gerry Sillman, John and Ruth Freudenberg.
Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Osage) in rural Cook.
Burial is at the church cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 18, until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the family’s choice.
