Rose J. Schreiner, 100, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City. She was born on March 18, 1912 at rural Lawrence, Neb., to Thomas V. and Josephine (Mazour) Karmazin.
They later moved to Deweese, Neb. She graduated from high school there in 1930 then from Peru State College. She married Eugene P. Schreiner at Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese on Oct. 2, 1933 and made their home in Nebraska City.
Rose was a homemaker and worked part-time for Gene at Nebraska City Coca Cola Bottling Co. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Emmanuel 1122, the Lincoln Diocesan Counsel of Catholic Women and she was an honorary alumni of Lourdes Central Catholic School. She enjoyed sewing quilts and playing bridge.
She is survived by children Thomas Schreiner and wife Joyce of Nebraska City, Linda Lollmann of Nebraska City, and Mary Sue Hibbs and husband Michael of Adel, Iowa; daughter-in-law Judi Schreiner of Nebraska City; grandchildren Kelly Schreiner, Kris Lutz, Rob Schreiner, Kim Schreiner, Kent Schreiner, Debbie Bruggeman, Jeff Lollmann, Mike Lollmann, Greg Hibbs and Maggie Hibbs; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded by husband Eugene Schreiner on Sept. 16, 1989; infant twin sons: James and Patrick; son Robert J. Schreiner on May 16, 2010; son-in-law Thomas Lollmann on Dec. 2, 1998; grandson-in-law Patrick Lutz; siblings: Thomas Karmazin, Julius Karmazin, Mary Petr, Lula Drudik, Christina Karmazin, Cecilia Vap, Ann Karmazin, Frances Drudik and Heddie Keeney; brothers and sisters-in-law: Clarence and Elva Schreiner, Harry and Ramona Schreiner and Ivan “Bud” and Geraldine Cooper.
A funeral Mass was Dec. 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Frs. Michael McCabe, John Cooper and Monsignor Ivan Vap celebrating the Mass. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebraska City.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Lourdes Building and Renovation Fund in lieu of flowers.
