A Nebraska City man included on the state's sex offender registry since 2005 is facing new charges of sexual assault on a child.

Otoe County prosecutors say George D. Morgan, 25, instructed a five year old to perform sexual acts.

George D. Morgan, 25, of Nebraska City is being held without bond awaiting a Jan. 7 preliminary hearing on charges that he instructed a five-year-old to perform sex acts.

Deputy Otoe County Attorney Tim Noerrlinger asked the court for a significant bond amount.

He said Morgan was previously sentenced to a year in jail for attempted sexual assault without consent in 2005 and failed to comply with the sex offender registration act in 2007.

In 2009, Otoe County charges against Morgan for sexual assault of a nine-year-old child were dropped.

Noerrlinger said the decision to dismiss the charges involved the willingness of witnesses to participate in court proceedings.

Morgan is also charged in Otoe County with possession of a knife in a separate case on Nov. 14. Charges of domestic assault and false imprisonment in that case have been dropped.

Noerrlinger said the current charge of sexual assault of a child on Nov. 1 is based on a forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center in Lincoln.
