BOAT OPERATORS CHARGED IN DEADLY MISSISSIPPI RIVER CRASH

Joseph S. Schier, Jr., 21, and Douglas C. Metcalf, 22, both from Burlington, were each formally charged Friday morning with one count of Boating While Intoxicated causing death, a class B felony, and four counts of involuntary manslaughter, class D felonies, for operating the boats that collided in the Mississippi River near Burlington on May 19.
