Rose Marie Miller, 85, of Nebraska City died Dec. 1, 2012 at Duff’s Friendship Villa in Nebraska City. She was born on Jan. 31, 1927 in Nebraska City to Robert F. and Gertrude (Lutz) Lechner.
She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1944. She married Ralph Walter “Steamboat” Miller on Aug. 11, 1952 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City.
She worked at J.C. Penney Department Store and was a telephone operator for the former Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Co. (LT&T) for 30 years.
She was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She also was a member of the VFW, Legion Post #8 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #968 Auxiliaries.
She was dedicated to her family and loved them unconditionally. She always helped Ralph with hunting, fishing and any of his CB Conventions they attended throughout the years. She enjoyed her flowers and loved her pets dearly. She always kept to her faith and trusted in the Lord to lead the way. She enjoyed cooking and her holiday meals were especially good.
Rose Marie is survived by granddaughters Kim Piitz and husband Lonnie of Brainard and Kelly Marie Nicholson of Omaha; four great-grandchildren: Suzanne, Sylvia, Ellie and Lainley Piitz all of Brainard; son-in-law Gilbert Nicholson of Lincoln; sister-in-law Carolyn Lechner of Nebraska City; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband Ralph Miller on Dec. 4, 2003; daughter Suzanne Marie Nicholson on April 14, 2000, brother Robert M. Lechner; and sister Caroline Lechner.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Fr. Cyza celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. A Rosary will be recited at the church at 10:30 a.m.
Memorials may be given to St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Otoe County Veterans Van, or Mass intentions.
