Nebraska City police are accepting donations for this year's Shop with A Cop program.
Due to donations last year, officers were able to shop with five children, buying Christmas presents for their families.
Sgt. Dana Schebaum said the program gave the children positive interaction with police and benefited both the families and the officers.
"It is a great way to make the holidays brighter," Schebaum said.
Last year, police picked up the kids in cruisers and arrived in a convoy at Walmart with emergency lights flashing.
Chief of Police David Lacy said the emotions of the morning make him hope the program will continue for years to come.
Back at the police station, officers helped the kids wrap gifts.
