Jessie A. Rhoten, 90, of Hamburg, formerly Sidney, died Nov. 27, 2012 at the Tabor Manor Care Center in Tabor. Jessie Arlene Grubb was born on May 2, 1922 in Wichita, Kan., to James G. and Bertha E. (Currence) Grubb. She graduated from the former Bethany High School in Lincoln, Neb.
She married Ira Sherman “Red” Rhoten, Jr. on Jan. 31, 1960. He preceded her Dec. 6, 2005.
Jessie was a housewife/homemaker and also provided home daycare for many years. She was a long-time devoted member of the Church of Christ in Sidney.
She is survived by children Sherman Rhoten and wife Shelly of Carson and Reva Benefiel and husband Kent of Hamburg; grandchildren Zach and Kaitlin Benefiel; other family and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded by a twin sister, Jewel Bare.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Sidney with Revs. Bob Milliken and Claude Westerfield officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Greenwood, Neb.
The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Memorials may be given to the Sidney Church of Christ or the family’s choice.
