Richard Lee Wellman, 62, died at his home in Cook. He was born on March 11, 1950 to Duane and Edith (Prigg) Wellman in Nebraska City.
Richard graduated from Cook High School in 1968. He entered into the Army in July 1969 and completed basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash. He served his country in Vietnam and received the Combat Infantryman Badge. After service to his country, Rich was a custom harvester and welder.
Rich is survived by parents Duane and Edith Wellman of Syracuse, daughters Traci and Mitchell Grumment and their children Eric and Bronx of Gretna and Jodi Wellman, and her children Brionna and Conner of Jackson, Tenn., and son Ricky Wellman and his children Angelica and Colton, of Bellevue.
He was preceded by brother Jimmie Dale.
Funeral services were Nov. 24, 2012 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Syracuse with military rites by Mid-Otoe County VFW #5547 and American Legion #195.
Burial is at Park Hill Cemetery.
Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, Syracuse, was in charge of arrangements.
