  • Obituary: John H. (J.H.) Boettner, 90

  • John H. (J.H.) Boettner, 90, of Rock Port, died Nov. 12, 2012 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Mo. He was born to Carl Chalmers and Lyda (McGuire) Boettner on Nov. 6, 1922, in Rock Port.

  • John H. (J.H.) Boettner, 90, of Rock Port, died Nov. 12, 2012 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Mo. He was born to Carl Chalmers and Lyda (McGuire) Boettner on Nov. 6, 1922, in Rock Port.
    J.H. graduated from Rock Port High School in 1940 and the Aeronautic Institute, Lincoln, with an associates degree in Aeronautical Engineering.  
    On July 12, 1942, he married Deana Moore at the Wilshire Wedding Chapel in Los Angeles.  They celebrated 70 years of marriage this past July.  For a short time, J.H. was employed by Lockheed-Vega in Burbank, Calif., before entering the Army Air Force to serve his country during World War II.  Following his honorable discharge in 1946, J.H. and Deana returned to the Rock Port area, where J.H. was employed as a buyer for the Wilson Company in Tarkio.  
    In 1948, J.H. and Deana began farming the family farm north of Rock Port, where they lived for the remainder of their life together.
    J.H. was a former member of the High Creek Baptist Church and a current member of the Rock Port Baptist Church.  He also was a lifetime member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port.  J.H. enjoyed golfing, working on crossword puzzles, reading and playing bridge with his friends.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and was dedicated to his church where he was a deacon and served on numerous committees.  In addition, he served on the Grange Hall Cemetery Association board for 25 years.
    J.H. was preceded  by sisters Marjorie (Lee) Fowler and Dorothy (Carl) Muller.  
    His survivors include his wife, Deana, Rock Port; sons Jay (Marge) Boettner, Los Alamos, N.M., and Steven (Cynthia) Boettner, San Jose, Calif.; grandchildren Danita Boettner, Albuquerque, N.M., Scott (Amy) Boettner, Columbus, Ind., Erin (Chris) Blume, Wichita, Kan., Jason (Erin) Boettner, Campbell, Calif., Travis (Kimberly) Boettner and Kelli Wing, all of San Jose, Calif.; great grandchildren  Kaitlyn, Corey and Aimee Blume, all of Wichita, Luke and Addison Boettner, Columbus, and Jackson Boettner, Campbell; brother-in-law Oscar (Margaret) Moore, Rock Port; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Services are at  2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, Rock Port Baptist Church with burial at Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.
    Memorials are suggested to Rock Port Baptist Church or Grange Hall Cemetery.
