  • Frances C. Goodman, 88, of Nebraska City died Nov. 7, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln. She was born on Nov. 1, 1924 at Spencer, S.D., to Lloyd John and Vesta Emma Vera (Doty) Burnham. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1942.

  • Frances C. Goodman, 88, of Nebraska City died Nov. 7, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln. She was born on Nov. 1, 1924 at Spencer, S.D., to Lloyd John and Vesta Emma Vera (Doty) Burnham. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1942.
    Frances married Robert Donald Goodman on Dec. 27, 1943 at Mitchell, S.D. He preceded her on Aug. 16, 2005.
    Being the oldest child of nine, Frances was no stranger to hard work. Frances worked at Ocoma Foods, The Manor and later with her husband for over 25 years at the Otoe County Bank. She was a member of the UCT and a 50-year member of the Eagles, of which she was proud.
    She had a magical smile, sense of humor and love of life. In her free time she would read, garden, crochet and embroidery. Frances was an excellent cook. She loved her family and her family loved her.
    She is survived by daughters Betty Shoemaker and husband Ron of Nebraska City and Bonnie Goodman of Nebraska City; grandsons Robert Shoemaker and wife Susan and Scott Shoemaker, all of Nebraska City; great-granddaughter Lauren Shoemaker; siblings Janelle Terrell of Anaheim, Calif., Bonnie Jones of South Lyon, Mich., Thomas Burnham and wife Ruthann of Omaha, Robert Burnham and wife Goldie of Sioux Falls, S.D., Alec Burnham and wife Viola of Alvordton, Ohio and Dennis Burnham of Omaha; other family and friends.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded by a daughter Shirley Hodges on March 22, 2005 and siblings Dan Burnham and Delpha Stuby.
    Funeral services were Nov. 10 at the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Terry Weible officiating; burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Nehawka.
    Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
    Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City was in charge of arrangements.
