Mildred Anna Minnie (Buchholz) Werner, 81, died at home on Nov. 4, 2012. She
was born on May 7, 1931 in Otoe to John and Lydia (Neemann) Buchholz.

was born on May 7, 1931 in Otoe to John and Lydia (Neemann) Buchholz.

    Mildred was confirmed on May 20, 1945 at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch), Avoca.

    She was married on Oct. 1, 1950 to Kenneth Werner and they worked together for 40 years on their dairy farm. She dedicated her life to her family as they were the most important thing in her life. Mildred enjoyed making quilts for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always kept chocolate chip cookies in the cookie jar for her family. She loved to work in her yard and garden and playing cards with her brother, sisters, spouses and many friends.

    She was a member of the Sundowners Extension Club for 48 years, Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, co-superintendent of Food Preservation – Otoe County Fair, and a member of Luther Memorial Church where she served in the altar guild, was co-chair of the service group, assisted with blanket work day and was a church volunteer.

    She is survived by husband Kenneth Werner; children Jerry and Rhae Werner, Dennis and Janelle Werner, Arlyn and Julie Werner, and Randy and Wendy Werner, all of Syracuse; grandchildren Jason and Kelly Werner, Ebensburg, Pa., Carrie and Anton Simon, Syracuse,  Jamie and Tate Higgins, Syracuse, Brian and Laramie Werner, Unadilla, Daryl and Rachel Werner, Unadilla, Katie and Luke Loveless, Columbus, Clint and Jennifer Werner, Fremont, Kylee Werner, Syracuse, Madeline Werner, Syracuse, and Nolan Werner, Syracuse; great-grandchildren Reece, Jarrett and Hayden Werner, Ebensburg, William and Charles Simon, Syracuse, Wyatt and Aubrey Higgins, Syracuse, Anden, Brylar and Chella Werner, Unadilla, Haleigh and Spencer Werner, Unadilla, and Justin and Jordyn Werner, Fremont; sisters Hilda Harris, Ogallala, Ruby Lutjemeyer, Syracuse, and Luella and Richard Meyer, Weeping Water; brother Leonard and Letha Buchholz, Syracuse; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

    She was preceded by sister Ruth Payne; brothers-in-law Larry Payne, Fred Lutjemeyer, David Kuenning and Jack Harris; nieces Donna Rae Lutjemeyer and Betty Timblin; and brothers–in-law and sisters-in-law Harold and Phyllis Werner, Willard and Leola Mohlman.

    Funeral services are Friday, Nov. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Burial will follow at Park Hill Cemetery.

    Visitation is Wednesday from 1-9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Visitation will start again at 5:30 at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church with a prayer service starting at 6:30 p.m. The family will greet friends at the church.

    Memorials are suggested to Luther Memorial Church.
