The Nemaha County ballot Tuesday includes three contested seats for the Auburn City Council and a contested race for mayor of Peru.
Also on the ballot is a decision on whether to dissolve the weed district board.
For Auburn's second ward, incumbent Frank Critser is challenged by Rick Janssen.
Janssen, a chairman of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, and Critser both say they expect to listen to both sides of city issues.
Candidates for an open seat in the third ward are Chris Erickson and Jeffrey J. Jeanneret.
Erickson had previously served on the first ward, but resigned when he moved to the third ward.
Both he and Jeanneret said city spending must be controlled after the recent upgrade to the water and wastewater treatment plants.
For the open seat in the first ward candidates are Thomas D. Clark and Dennis Goering.
Candidates to fill the post of Peru Mayor Leslie Ryan are Brian Maher and Jay Moran.
Mayor Ryan nominated Moran to fill a position on the council in 2010.
During the campaign this year, Moran said the Peru water plant is the top issue for the mayor.
