Willie Perkins, known locally as Walkin' Willie, was rushed to St. Mary's Community Hospital this afternoon after an incident at the intersection of Central Avenue and 11th Street.

Police say Perkins was crossing 11th Street on the south crosswalk of Central Avenue when he came into contact with a westbound car that was turning left onto 11th Street.

Police are trying to determine if the car hit Perkins or if Perkins stumbled into the car.

Perkins was treated at the hospital and is expected to be transferred. He was talking to fire and rescue responders at the scene.

Perkins gained notoriety as a Hamburg resident who regularly walked to Nebraska City. He is not known to drive a car and is a regular pedestrian in the city.
