Anna B. “Ann” Teten, 90, of Nebraska City, formerly Brock/Talmage area died Oct. 24, 2012 at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City.
Anna Belle (Ann) Burch was born near Rock Port, Mo., Sept. 17, 1922 to Syrus Taber and Dollie Jane (Smith) Burch. Her family moved to the Brownville area in 1933 and then moved to the Peru area in 1939. Ann graduated from Peru High School in 1941.
She was employed for several years as a beautician in beauty salons in Peru, Auburn and Nebraska City. She married Merle B. Teten on Aug. 17, 1946 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Atchison, Kan. They lived on a farm in the Brock and Talmage area most of their married lives.
Ann received Christ as her personal Savior on Oct. 7, 1951 and was baptized on Oct. 2, 1955. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Nebraska City. After her husband died July 10, 1992, she lived in an apartment in Auburn until Sept. 2, 2000 when she moved to the Morton House Assisted Living Facility in Nebraska City. Oct. 18, 2008 she moved to the Ambassador in Nebraska City.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidering, scrapbooking, taking family pictures and baking. She and her children enjoyed packing a picnic basket and taking it to her husband when he was working in the fields. She also enjoyed trips with her family.
She is survived by her children Dean Teten of Omaha, Barbara Clark and husband John of Auburn, Jim Teten and wife Carolyn of Nebraska City and John Teten and wife Vicky of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Evelyn Barnhart of Ft. Collins, Colo.; brother-in-law Robert Teten and wife Rafaela of Bandera, Texas; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann, four half-sisters and four half-brothers.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 27, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Rev. Keith Hunt of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
