The Peru State football team broke Central Methodist University, then broke ground on a $14 million renovation project at the Oak Bowl last Saturday.
Peru State dominated the visiting Eagles by piling up a 40-0 lead. Central Methodist rallied for 23 points but ended up falling short and dropping to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
The Bobcats moved their season record to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Peru State scored 20 in the first quarter, 13 in the second and seven in the third. All of Central Methodist’s points came in the game’s final stanza.
Ryan Ludlow rushed 25 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught a 53-yard touchdown. Nate Tromblee rushed for 29 yards and one score. Garrett Campbell had the game’s only other score on a 48-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
Peru State will return to action for a game at Missouri Valley College at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
