  • Playoff bound Plattsmouth made the most of its scoring opportunities and kept Nebraska City from cashing in on its chances on the way to a 27-0 win at Pioneer Field Friday night.
Advantageous field position helped Plattsmouth grab an early lead in the game.
Nebraska City booted the opening kick out of bounds and Plattsmouth recovered a subsequent squib kick near mid-field.
The Blue Devils drove down and scored on an eight-yard pass. The point after kick was blocked and the Devils led 6-0
Turnovers stopped the Pioneers on a pair of possessions that reached Blue Devil territory during the first half. An interception and a fumble Pioneer marches.
    Nebraska City was resilient, however.
The Blue Devils had 4th-and-8 on the Pioneer 32 yard line, but Nebraska City stood strong with Trevor Chaney getting a key pass break up on defense.
Nebraska City stopped Plattsmouth on downs later in the second quarter.
The Pioneers put together a late first half drive, but again was turned away without points as the home team missed a long field goal.
Plattsmouth led 6-0 at the break.
Nebraska City took the opening kick of the second half and marched into Plattsmouth territory before giving the ball up on an interception.
Plattsmouth drove 57-yards in response and cashed in on a 17-yard scoring pass and a two-point pass to go up 14-0.
Nebraska City would again march down into Plattsmouth territory, this time reaching the Blue Devil 11-yard line before a fumble derailed the drive.
Plattsmouth would then drive 84 yards and cap the march with a 10-yard scoring run and point after kick to lead 21-0.
A late game interception and a short Blue Devil drive capped by an eight-yard run rounded out the scoring and put Plattsmouth ahead 27-0.
Fittingly enough, Nebraska City put together a last second drive that reached the Plattsmouth red zone, but the Blue Devil defense denied Nebraska City one final time to cement its shut out.
With the win, Plattsmouth raised its mark to 5-4 and posted its fourth straight victory. Nebraska City finishes the year 2-6. The Pioneers were held painfully short of a history making third win. Nebraska City has finished with two or fewer wins in each season dating back to 2003.
