Nebraska City athletes were in action for district cross country and state tennis on Thursday.
The Pioneer cross country athletes competed at the district tournament at Omaha Skutt with the boys' and girls' teams both finishing in eighth place. Nebraska City did not have an individual qualifier for state and did not qualify as a team.
Andrew Finkner, No. 1 singles, picked up one win for the Nebraska City tennis team during action at the state meet in Lincoln. Finkner fell in the second round. Other athletes competed, but did not record a win. Those Pioneers were Seth Anderson, No. 2 singles; Mark Little and Justin McCord, No. 1 doubles; and Jacob Martens and Gavin Nielson, No. 2 doubles.
